Jonathan HampshireJonathan Hampshire has a B.A (hons) in Development Studies, a MSc in Agricultural Economics and a Grad. Dip in Training & Human Resource Management. He is a Fellow of the Overseas Development Institute and of the Royal Geographic Society.
Jonathan's primary areas of expertise are in program and project design and appraisal, monitoring and evaluation systems, preparation of operational guidelines for aid donors and the design and delivery of short-course training for development planners and managers. He has 25 years experience in development work, undertaking assignments in more than 25 developing countries. Jonathan worked for 5 years in PNG, first as an Economist in the National Planning Office (1984-86) and then as the Project Manager of the IFAD/AusAID funded South Simbu Rural Development Project (1986-88). Following two years of employment with CARE Australia as Country Program Manager (based in Canberra), Jonathan started work in 1991 as a development consultant and Director of PDM. In 2003-04 he spent 18 months working in Brussels with EuropeAID as a member of the Aid Delivery Methods Helpdesk, before returning to Canberra to continue his consulting career with PDM. Jonathan is currently based in Thailand while working on a contract with the UN, and continues to consult from there.
